Alphabet's Cloud revenue more than doubles as AI demand outpaces capacity
Google says it is racing to add capacity, while its new Carbon model is first going to vetted cyber defenders as U.S. government testing continues.

Alphabet reported a strong third quarter of 2026, with revenue up 25% year over year to a half-trillion-dollar annual run rate. Google Cloud revenue more than doubled, rising 103%, which the company credits to AI infrastructure demand that it is racing to meet with more capacity. Its first-party model APIs now handle close to 32 billion tokens per minute, roughly 40% above last quarter and over four times the level of a year ago. Google also introduced Carbon, the strongest model in its Gemini 4 line, which it says ranks first on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, and is starting its rollout with vetted cyber defenders while U.S. government testing continues. For builders, the company signals agentic features coming to Search, the Gemini app and Chrome, Android and Workspace.
Why it matters
Alphabet's third-quarter results point to AI demand that is outrunning the company's supply, with Google Cloud growth of 103% and model usage up about 40% in a single quarter. For ordinary users, the more visible change is that agentic features are slated for Search, the Gemini app, Chrome, Android and Workspace, and the Gemini app has already reached one billion users. Carbon's first release is narrow and gated, so its wider availability and the outcome of government testing remain open questions.
