Anthropic files for IPO, planning Nasdaq listing under ANT
Co-founders will keep control of half the voting power, and the filing flags risks including a US government supply-chain risk designation.
Anthropic has lodged its registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a planned initial public offering, with shares to trade on Nasdaq under the code ANT. Its first-half 2026 revenue reached $16.3 billion, compared with $1.2 billion a year earlier, while the net loss of $80.7 billion was mostly due to non-cash accounting entries linked to convertible debt. Operating losses narrowed to $693 million from $2.1 billion, and the company reports more than 11,900 customers paying at least $100,000 a year. A governance arrangement gives the seven co-founders control of 50.1% of voting power, and the filing lists a wide range of risks, including catastrophic AI incidents and a supply-chain risk designation by the US government. The offering size, price range and expected valuation have not been set in the filing, though press reports point to a debut in November.
Why it matters
The filing shows Anthropic's revenue rising sharply to $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, while its reported net loss of $80.7 billion was driven mostly by noncash accounting entries tied to convertible debt. Public investors would be buying into a company whose founders hold 50.1% of the vote, which limits how much outside shareholders can influence decisions. The disclosed risks, including the government designation, give the market a formal record of the pressures Anthropic faces as it moves toward listing.
