Aspire 13.6 adds persistent dashboard history and first-party Java and Rust hosting

The release keeps more run data in the dashboard and widens the platform’s language and cloud support.

Microsoft has shipped Aspire 13.6, and the release broadens the platform’s reach while changing how the dashboard and local development workflow work for teams using it. The dashboard now keeps run history and telemetry in SQLite, retains up to ten runs by default when launched by an AppHost, and raises log and trace limits to 100,000 each. Aspire 13.6 also adds first-party hosting support for Java and Rust, plus prerelease integrations for Azure Connector Namespace and Azure Container Apps Sandboxes, with preview access required in Azure. On the tooling side, the update adds coordinated .NET project builds, portable volume-path handling, a new --launch-profile flag for aspire run and aspire start, and Visual Studio Code actions for starting, stopping, deploying, and publishing AppHosts. The release also includes breaking changes such as MongoDB switching to TLS when possible during local runs and the Cosmos DB emulator moving to a Linux-based vNext image.

Why it matters

For teams already using Aspire, the dashboard becomes more useful for reviewing recent runs because it now keeps run data and raises the default limits for logs and traces. The new hosting support and prerelease integrations also expand where Aspire can fit into a stack, while the new CLI option gives developers another way to start apps with a chosen launch profile.
