AWS previews Well-Architected Agent for workload reviews
The preview adds an AI reviewer that ranks issues and suggests fixes before and after deployment, but AWS says teams still need to check its output.
AWS has put the Well-Architected Agent into preview, giving cloud teams an AI tool that scans workloads and infrastructure-as-code and returns prioritized guidance on cost, security, performance, and reliability. The service ties together resource settings, utilization data, application topology, and stated business goals so it can rank findings at the resource, application, and architecture levels and propose remediation through CLI actions, IaC changes, or automation. AWS says the agent can also inspect Terraform and CloudFormation before deployment, but it warns that the generated advice may be wrong or incomplete and still needs human review. Access is limited for now to three US regions and to customers on Business Support+ or above, though it can onboard workloads from any region.
Why it matters
For cloud teams, the change is not just more automated review; it is a single place to surface and order concerns across cost, security, performance and reliability using the workload’s own context. That makes the output more actionable, but AWS is also drawing a clear line: the agent can assist with fixes and pre-deployment checks, yet its advice still needs human review, so it does not replace existing governance.
