Google expands ads in AI Mode to ten more countries
Brazil, Mexico and the UK follow later this year, and US users will see sponsored content during follow-up questions.

Google is expanding advertising inside its AI Mode search feature to more countries, with ads now set to appear for users in Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore. Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom are due to receive ads later this year. The US will also get multiturn ads, which would show sponsored content during follow-up questions in a conversation. The move follows comments from parent company Alphabet's third-quarter earnings call, where executives said AI Mode was monetising at a lower rate than the company spends running it, though early ad results were described as promising. For developers and founders watching AI-driven search, the expansion signals that Google is trying to make the feature pay for itself at a global scale.
Why it matters
For people who use Google's AI search, sponsored content is moving from a test into a regular part of answers in many more markets, and it will now appear in follow-up questions as well as first replies. Alphabet has said AI Mode currently earns less than it costs to run, so the rollout suggests the company is trying to close that gap across a wider audience. Whether early ad results hold up at this scale will shape how far the feature spreads and how much advertising users see inside conversational search.
