Inmo recalls Air3 smart glasses over burn risk from overheating temple
About 1,600 Air3 units in the US and Canada are affected, with owners told to stop using them and apply a free software fix.
Smart glasses maker Inmo has recalled its Air3 model after reports that the left temple can overheat and cause burn injuries. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been 10 incidents where users felt a burning sensation on the face and left ear while wearing the device. Around 1,600 units with black frames and “Air3” and “Inmo” branding on the right arm are affected, covering devices sold via Inmo’s site, Amazon, and a Kickstarter campaign in the US and Canada during an eight‑month window from late 2025 to mid‑2026. Buyers are instructed to stop using the Air3 and contact Inmo support for a no‑cost online software update that is supposed to fix the hazard. Earlier product reviews had already flagged overheating at the left temple, and Inmo shipped the glasses with a protective sleeve to shield users from the heat.
Why it matters
The recall directly affects more than 1,600 early buyers, who now face a safety risk from a premium device that was already shipping with a protective sleeve for heat. The move underscores how hardware and software choices can create physical hazards, with documented burn‑like sensations and a fix that depends on users acting on recall instructions rather than returning the product outright.
