TypeSafe AI raises $870 million as Jev reaches $7.5 billion valuation
The fast uptake of Jev in large enterprises gives TypeSafe a major new signal after launching the non-text model on Sept. 15.
TypeSafe AI has raised $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation for Jev, a non-text AI model that it says is better suited to automation than standard LLMs. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with Sequoia and existing backer DCVC also participating. Jev launched on Sept. 15 and TypeSafe says a third of Fortune 500 companies are already using it, reflecting unusually fast enterprise uptake. The company describes Jev as transformer-based but not a text generator, instead producing probabilities or “calibrated decisions.” TypeSafe was founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, Sasha Sheng, and Erik Gafni.
Why it matters
This shows demand is building around AI systems that are meant for decisions rather than text output. A third of Fortune 500 companies using Jev so soon after launch suggests large organisations are testing a different kind of model for automation, not just another chatbot-style tool. That kind of adoption can make the market for non-text models harder to ignore.
