Warhorse Studios confirms cyberattack on its systems, scope still unclear
The studio behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 does not yet know whether any data was taken.
Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG in development, says it has been hit by a cyberattack and is still assessing the damage. The studio says it is working with cybersecurity specialists to lock down its systems and is coordinating with the relevant authorities during the investigation. CEO Martin Frývaldský called it a serious incident and said the priority is containing the breach and establishing its full extent. Reports say the attack involved unauthorized access to company systems and company data, but it remains unclear what data, if any, was taken. The studio has promised to share more information once it can do so responsibly, and the outcome for its upcoming games is not yet known.
Why it matters
For players and the wider games industry, the key open question is whether any company or personal data left Warhorse's systems, and that answer has not been given. The studio says it is containing the breach with specialists and with the relevant authorities, and it has promised more detail once it can share it responsibly. Until then, the effect on its upcoming games, including the open-world Lord of the Rings RPG in development, remains unknown.
