Discord to make selected public server messages searchable on the web
Members can opt out, and the feature is off by default in several regions with strict privacy laws.

Discord will let some messages from public channels in its Discoverable Servers be found through web search, with each such server getting its own web page starting November 16 and search-engine visibility for selected messages from mid-December. Server administrators choose which channels take part and members can opt out of having their messages indexed, while usernames and avatars are hidden on published messages. The change has drawn privacy objections from users who did not expect public chat to reach the wider internet, and some worry the material could feed AI training. Discord has switched the option off by default in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea for legal reasons, and teen users are excluded.
Why it matters
For Discord users, public chat that was once visible mainly inside the platform will become findable through ordinary web search, with each Discoverable Server gaining its own web page. Administrators decide which channels take part, but individual members keep the right to opt out, and the change is off by default in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea, where legal restrictions apply. The shift means people who joined public communities without expecting wider exposure now have to watch their settings, while teen users are kept out entirely.
