Firefox Smart Window gains AI form filling and page watching in beta
Both features are limited to desktop in the US and Canada for now, with other countries due in the coming months.
Mozilla has added two features to the beta of Firefox's Smart Window, its AI browsing mode, now rolling out on desktop in the US and Canada. The first, "Fill from sources," appears when a user clicks into a web form with at least four text fields and draws suggested entries from whichever open tabs the user selects, such as a portfolio or LinkedIn profile for a job application. Text fields are supported for now, with dropdown menus and PDFs still in development. Source-page data is passed to Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite model to generate those suggestions, which matters for anyone concerned about where their data goes. The second feature lets users type "/watch" in the Smart Window chat to monitor a page for sales or new job listings, with checks running daily or weekly only while the browser is open. Notifications arrive via the Tasks toolbar button or the desktop, and monitoring pauses after 60 days without a change and stops entirely after 90 days. Other countries are due to get both features in the coming months.
Why it matters
Users who fill in forms or track pages for sales and job listings get the work done inside the browser, but form data from open tabs is sent to Google's Gemini model, so the privacy trade-off is now a real choice. Page watching only runs while Firefox is open and fades out after 60 or 90 days without a change, which limits how far it can be relied on for alerts. Together the features show Mozilla moving routine browsing tasks into its AI mode, with the data-handling terms central to whether users accept them.
