Pokémon Unite to shut down in March 2027

Players can no longer buy gems or start new Unite Club memberships, and the new Library feature keeps some items viewable only on the device used to log in.

Pokémon Unite, the five-on-five battle arena game from The Pokémon Company and Tencent's TiMi Studios, will shut down on March 23, 2027 at 00:00 UTC. The game launched on Switch in July 2021 and reached mobile a few months later, with cross-platform play between the two. Gem sales and new Unite Club memberships and auto-renewals have now stopped, while existing Club members keep their perks until their membership expires. A final update on November 12 will add a farewell event. A new Library feature will let players keep viewing some in-game items after the shutdown, but they must log in beforehand to download that data, which generally cannot be transferred to a new device.

Why it matters

The shutdown ends a five-on-five game that ran on both Switch and mobile with cross-platform play, so players on either platform lose it on the same date. Players who want to keep viewing their in-game items must log in before the end date, and that data is tied to the device they download it on, so a new device will generally not carry it over. Existing Club members keep their perks until their membership expires, but nothing new can be bought or renewed.
