Meta brings AI-built Horizon games directly into Facebook and Instagram
AI tools for making Horizon games on mobile and web tie creation and play into Meta’s main apps.
Meta is introducing Horizon Create for mobile and Horizon Studio for the browser, tools that let users generate 2D and 3D Horizon games from AI prompts and then refine them with more detailed controls. These games will be instantly playable from Facebook and Instagram feeds, letting someone jump into a multiplayer session from a clip without installing an app. Meta will algorithmically boost titles that are stable, engaging, culturally relevant, and good at retaining players. The move aligns Horizon’s recent shift from VR toward mobile and extends Meta’s broader strategy of embedding AI tooling across its products. It also positions Horizon more directly against Roblox, which has 123 million daily active users and is similarly experimenting with prompt-based game creation on mobile.
Why it matters
By moving Horizon from VR into mobile tools and the browser, Meta is trying to turn Facebook and Instagram into places where people not only watch game clips but also jump straight into playing and even creating them. Clips on Instagram will become instant entry points into multiplayer sessions, while Meta’s feed algorithms will decide which AI-generated games get visibility based on engagement and retention, putting Horizon in more direct competition with Roblox’s growing AI-driven ecosystem.
