Rydox marketplace admin pleads guilty, faces long US prison term
The plea cements the shutdown of a major illicit data market that served tens of thousands of cybercrime transactions.
Ardit Kutleshi has pleaded guilty in the United States to aggravated identity theft and conspiring to launder money, in a case concerning Rydox, an illegal marketplace for stolen data and cybercrime tools. At its 2024 closure, the site had offered more than 321,000 other cybercrime items to a community of over 18,000 users. Kutleshi and two other Rydox administrators were arrested in December 2024, and an international operation shut the marketplace, seized its domain and took its Kuala Lumpur servers; Kutleshi was extradited from Kosovo to the United States in 2025. Sentencing is scheduled for February 9, 2027; he faces at least two years for aggravated identity theft and a maximum of 20 years for money laundering.
