Apple's New Logic Pro AI Assistant Requires a Creator Studio Subscription
Buyers of the one-time Logic Pro purchase will not get the Intelligent Assistant (beta), which Apple has tied to a paid subscription.
Apple's release notes for Logic Pro 13.0 for Mac, published today, say the new AI-powered Intelligent Assistant (beta) needs an Apple Creator Studio subscription, priced at $12.99 per month or $129 per year. The one-time $199.99 Logic Pro purchase does not include the feature, and its release notes do not mention it. The subscription requirement was absent from Apple's announcement last month, which only listed macOS 27 and Apple Intelligence hardware. Apple says the assistant mixes its own and third-party AI models to help with production tasks such as starting a song or setting up a vocal track.
Why it matters
Users who bought Logic Pro outright now face a choice: pay for a recurring Creator Studio subscription to get the AI assistant, or keep working without it. The requirement was not in Apple's earlier announcement and appears only in the Logic Pro 13.0 release notes, so customers who expected the feature with their existing purchase were not told beforehand. The move shows Apple moving some AI features behind ongoing subscription fees rather than bundling them into one-time software purchases.
