Blueprints AI moves its permit-blueprint software into public release

Its second-generation system now spans more of a building project, while licensed professionals still sign off before permit submission.

Blueprints AI, a Santa Monica startup founded by Al Drams and Coco Cao, is moving from early pilots to a public release of its second-generation software this week at TechCrunch Disrupt. The product turns a sketch or description into permit-ready blueprints and now covers architecture plus structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design, with one change propagating across the whole project and being checked against local codes. The company says licensed architects still review and seal the documents, and it is aiming at both design firms and developers or property owners. Drams says the first version costs $3,200 to $8,500 a month, depending on the plan, and the startup is already building a third version with structural analysis and electrical panel design.

Why it matters

For architects, design firms, developers and property owners, the shift is from a narrow tool to software that can carry more of a project at once. That can reduce the back-and-forth of keeping separate disciplines aligned, but it does not remove the need for licensed review and sealing before filing. The startup is also pricing its first version as a monthly product and already planning a third version with more engineering functions.
