Explosion at Intel Israel chip plant kills two workers

Intel has not said whether the blast will disrupt output at a site already under capacity pressure.

An explosion at Intel’s Kiryat Gat chip plant in Israel killed two workers and left another in serious condition, raising questions about whether the incident could affect production at a site tied to Intel 7 manufacturing. Local police and rescue services said the blast happened during a material transfer involving a truck connection, and investigators have not yet pointed to criminal intent or negligence. The fire involved nitrogen trifluoride, and emergency teams said they contained the scene without evacuating nearby residents or factory staff. Intel has not said whether the accident will disrupt output, even though the company has previously said Intel 7 and Intel 10 capacity has been tight and could stay constrained into 2026.

Why it matters

For Intel, the immediate question is whether the Kiryat Gat plant can keep running without adding more strain to output. For customers, the incident lands at a site tied to constrained Intel 7 and Intel 10 supply, so any interruption would come on top of an already tight supply picture.
