Ghost raises $11 million and opens preorders for its $3,499 Core computer

Core ships with local AI models and a Blackwell GPU, with the first batch due to ship in the last week of October.

Ghost has come out of stealth with an $11 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz and a first product called Core, a $3,499 desktop computer built to run AI agents locally. The startup says Core ships with an Nvidia RTX Pro 4000 SFF Blackwell GPU, preinstalled models, and software intended to let agents act without constant prompting or a cloud-dependent service. Preorders open Monday, and the company says the first batch will ship in the last week of October. Ghost says Core’s memory, models, and logic stay on the device, and that it is building controls to limit what agents can do with credentials and network access. The founding team is led by 19-year-old Zain Javaid, who says the product is meant to give users a fully functioning machine that does not need complicated setup.

Why it matters

Ghost is trying to make personal AI run on a dedicated machine instead of depending on a cloud service. That shifts the product from a software experiment to a paid desktop system with a fixed price, a known hardware stack, and a timeline for buyers. For people interested in local AI, the key change is that Ghost is now asking them to treat it as a finished device they can preorder, rather than a concept still in stealth.
