Glimpse expands CT inspection software into a broader product called Explore
The company is turning faster battery-cell inspection into a wider product line for other industries and adding more scan capacity in the Bay Area.
Glimpse is expanding its CT-scanning software for manufacturers, aiming to help them catch defects much faster on existing scanners and now packaging that technology into a broader product called Explore. The startup says its software can make battery-cell inspection 10 to 30 times faster, letting customers scan tens of thousands of cells a day instead of only a few, and it is also developing a “super scanner” that could finish a scan in about one or two seconds. Glimpse said it has more than 100 customers, including Anker, Lucid and the U.S. Navy, and that revenue is in the mid seven figures. It is also offering Scan On Demand for customers without their own CT hardware and says it will add a second scanning center in the San Francisco Bay Area. Moch said the company’s software does much of the processing on edge computers before sending results to the cloud, then shows clear images and customer-defined measurements in a browser.
Why it matters
For manufacturers that rely on CT inspection, Glimpse is moving from a battery-focused tool to a wider inspection offering while claiming much faster scans on existing hardware. That can change how quickly teams find defects and how much they can inspect without replacing their scanners, while the new Bay Area center adds more remote scanning capacity for customers without their own CT equipment.
