Google Cloud has announced Gemini agent, a new universal work agent aimed at letting employees and developers start tasks from a single prompt and finish them inside the tools they already use. The company says it can handle knowledge work, Q&A, content creation and coding, while also planning tasks, calling tools, and connecting to enterprise business systems. Google says the system will pick the best model for each job and includes cost controls plus enterprise security, administration and governance. The announcement was made at Gemini at Work 2026.
