Google launches a local-first AI note-taking app for Mac
Foresight keeps meeting audio, notes and files on the computer, giving Mac users an offline option for AI note capture and follow-up questions.
Google has released Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental Mac note-taking app that transcribes meetings and audio files entirely on-device, which matters for teams that want AI meeting capture without sending data to the cloud. The app runs on macOS with the EmbeddingGemma 2 model, is free to use, and is currently optimized for Macs with Apple Silicon. It gives you a split workflow like Granola: you can jot shorthand notes while it turns them into polished notes, then ask a built-in assistant questions about the transcript. Google also says local files can be connected as a knowledge base, and that meeting audio, notes, and files never leave the computer.
Why it matters
For teams that want AI-assisted meeting notes but are reluctant to upload recordings, Foresight changes the trade-off. It lets users capture and review meetings on the Mac while keeping the transcript, notes and connected files local, so the workflow stays on-device rather than depending on cloud storage.
