Anthropic pledges $150 million to the federal Genesis Mission
The commitment expands access to Claude across US science agencies and research projects, with added support for teams using it.
Anthropic said it will put $150 million over three years into the federal Genesis Mission, a move aimed at widening Claude’s use in US scientific research. The company says the funding will let more than 15 agencies, including NASA, NIH, and the NSF, use Claude, Claude Code, and API credits across several hundred research projects. Anthropic also plans hands-on support for scientists and agency teams, with help on onboarding, training, and technical setup. The announcement extends a partnership first disclosed last December with the Department of Energy and was made at a White House OSTP summit in Washington, DC.
Why it matters
For scientists and agency teams, the new funding means Claude, Claude Code and API credits will be available across more than 15 agencies and several hundred projects, not just as a pilot or one-off deployment. The added onboarding, training and technical help matters because it lowers the effort needed to put the tools into research work, which can speed up adoption across the Genesis Mission.
