Google Play adds personal app creation, smarter discovery and more PC games
The update gives some users new ways to make Android apps, while search and gaming features aim to make Play more useful across mobile and PC.
Google Play is adding a set of features that let people build and run personal Android apps, discover content more intelligently, and buy or try more games across mobile and PC. Using Google AI Studio, users can vibe code a custom app and launch it on their own device without a developer account, with rollout beginning today in select markets including the U.S. for users 18 and over. Google is also adding Ask Play comparisons, Play in Gemini, and a new Game Finder that uses Gamer DNA plus community signals; Game Finder starts today in English for U.S. users, while Play in Gemini will reach all Gemini users soon. On the gaming side, Play is introducing Sprints, Sidekick Playbacks, Community Posts, new PC titles such as Dave the Diver and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, upcoming releases like REPLACED, Chosen by Odin, and Over the Hill, and a week-long Play Fest for Play Points.
Why it matters
This widens what Google Play is for: not just finding apps and games, but making a personal app and getting more context when choosing what to install or play. For U.S. users 18 and over, the personal-app rollout starts now, while Ask Play and Game Finder change how people compare apps and discover games. Bringing PC titles and Game Trials to PC also makes Play more relevant beyond phones.
