Most of Roblox's top games now use AI tools to build, Playgama data shows
Creators are leaning on AI heavily, and the tools they prefer differ in how long players stay and how well games are received.
Roblox's latest earnings report says more than 80% of its top 100 games by hours played used AI tools to speed up creation in the past month, and that time top creators spend in its AI tools has tripled since Q2. Its Build tool, which generates games from natural language, has drawn over half a million users who have published more than 70,000 games between them. Playgama's new AI Game Index, built from over 4,200 AI-made games and 1.1 million launches, finds Claude Opus used for 54% of new AI-built games and OpenAI's Sol for 11%. Games made with OpenAI's Astra, though used less often, hold players longest at about four minutes 58 seconds per session and earn 65 likes per 1,000 plays against 39 for Claude Opus. Critics note Roblox also plans a Roblox Everywhere push to publish its games on other storefronts, which they say could add to discoverability problems.
Why it matters
For players and the wider games market, the shift means a growing share of Roblox's most-played titles are made with AI, which could change what gets built and how easily new games are found. Roblox's planned push to publish its games on other storefronts would extend that mix beyond its own platform, and critics say it could make discovery harder. Playgama's index suggests that which AI tool a creator picks is linked to player engagement, though it is one tracker's view of a single platform.
