OpenJDK advances three JEPs for JDK 28 as Payara and Camel ship fixes
JDK 28 work moved ahead, while Payara and Apache Camel each released updates that close security gaps for users.
OpenJDK has moved three JEPs aimed at JDK 28 forward: adaptive heap sizing for ZGC, faster startup and warmup with ZGC, and Structured Concurrency. A JDK 28 early-access build also advanced to build 20, while developers are being asked to file defects through the Java Bug Database. Azul released Payara 7.5.0 with Community Edition 7.2026.10, Enterprise Edition 6.43.0, and Enterprise Edition 5.92.0, adding command-line configuration helpers and fixing two RCE CVEs. Separate point releases landed for Gatherers4j 0.15.0, Yupiik Fusion 1.2.0, Google ADK for Java 1.12.0, and Google ADK for Kotlin 1.4.0, and Apache Camel disclosed fixes for 38 CVEs across its components.
Why it matters
For Java teams, this points to a mix of platform progress and active security maintenance. JDK 28 is advancing toward a fuller feature set, and the Payara and Camel releases reduce exposure for systems that depend on those projects. The result is less uncertainty for developers tracking upcoming JDK changes and for operators who need to keep application stacks patched.
