Sipeed’s MaixStation targets the 128GB AI box market at about $3,999
The Chinese-made system undercuts Nvidia’s 128GB DGX Spark and puts a lower-priced option into the same class of local AI hardware.
Sipeed has announced the MaixStation, a Chinese-made AI box built around Axera’s AX8860P, and says the 128GB model should land around $3,999 with Kickstarter launch discounts. That puts it near AMD’s 128GB Ryzen AI Halo and far below Nvidia’s 128GB DGX Spark, which Sipeed uses as its main comparison point. The company says sign-ups are open now, the Kickstarter campaign is planned for the end of the year, and shipping should begin within three months after it ends. Sipeed also says the NPU toolchain will arrive by the end of this month, and the machine ships with Debian 13.
Why it matters
For buyers comparing compact AI boxes, MaixStation adds a cheaper 128GB option to a segment now defined by a much higher-priced Nvidia reference point. That matters because it gives teams another off-the-shelf path to try local AI hardware without aiming straight at the top end of the market.
