Steam adds achievement sets with separate progress for base games and DLC
Steam is changing how achievement progress is shown, making base-game, DLC and seasonal goals easier to track on one page.
Valve has added Steam achievement sets, letting developers group a base game’s achievements and DLC achievements into separate buckets with their own progress bars. When players finish a set, Steam will award a visible “set complete” trophy on the profile, and the company says archived seasonal sets will also be supported for limited-time content. Valve says some games already use the feature, including Age of Wonders 4, Crusader Kings III, Forza Horizon 5, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2. Steam’s achievements page is also being redesigned to surface overall progress, per-set progress, and individual achievement details.
Why it matters
For players, achievement tracking is becoming clearer and more structured: progress is now split into separate sets instead of being mixed together, and completed sets get a visible trophy on the profile. That also gives developers a way to treat limited-time seasonal content differently from permanent achievements, while Steam surfaces overall progress, per-set progress and individual details in one place.
