Google Cloud power incident disrupts UK services
Google says it is still investigating after a problem in its UK region hit services used by banks and other platforms.
Google Cloud said a power-related incident at its UK region europe-west2 is causing failures across some services, and the disruption is already rippling into banking apps and other online platforms. Revolut, Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, the courts service and DPD all reported problems or said they were monitoring issues, though most have not formally confirmed a direct link to Google Cloud. Google said it is still investigating and has not given a clear repair timeline, while apologizing to affected customers. Its status page first showed trouble on Monday evening and later described elevated errors and intermittent network failures in the region.
Why it matters
The outage has put services that depend on Google Cloud in the UK region europe-west2 under pressure, with at least Revolut saying its disruption came from a third-party issue. With Google still investigating and no repair timeline given, affected services have limited clarity on when normal service will return.
