Google starts rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence in Android Auto
Drivers can now ask for trip details and route suggestions using connected Google services instead of switching between apps.
Google has started rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence in Android Auto, bringing more context-aware responses to in-car voice use by letting the assistant pull from connected Google services. The update lets drivers ask natural-language questions such as a flight gate, trip status, or directions to an appointment without digging through email, calendars, or maps first. Google says the feature can also improve route-based suggestions, including restaurant recommendations filtered by personal preferences such as vegetarian options. The rollout begins today for Android Auto users worldwide except in Switzerland, the European Economic Area, the UK, and Nigeria, and it will reach cars with Google built-in in the coming months. Google says the feature is optional, can be turned off, and only uses the apps a user explicitly connects.
Why it matters
The update makes in-car voice use more useful for people who already rely on Google apps for travel and daily plans. It can answer specific trip questions and shape route suggestions from connected services, while still leaving control with the user over opt-in and connected apps. That matters because it brings more of the information drivers already have into one place without forcing them to expose everything at once.
