GitHub ties Copilot actions to Logitech MX Keypad controls
GitHub is testing a physical shortcut layer for Copilot so developers can trigger common actions without leaving their workflow.
GitHub says it is folding more agentic Copilot workflows into the developer experience and has worked with Logitech over the past 18 months to connect those flows to the MX Keypad. The pitch is that developers can bind repeated Copilot actions such as starting or resuming a session, submitting a parameterized prompt, or triggering multi-step commands to physical controls so they can stay in flow while still keeping approval and oversight. GitHub frames this as part of a broader shift toward “ambient intelligence,” where AI handles more of the mechanics but developers remain accountable for outcomes. The company says the integration is still early and invites users to try the MX Keypad pairing with GitHub Copilot Pro+ as an experiment in reducing friction.
Why it matters
For developers, this points to AI moving from a separate tool into the flow of work, with physical controls handling routine Copilot steps while responsibility stays with the person using them. The change is still experimental, but it shows how GitHub wants Copilot to fit into everyday use rather than sit beside it.
