Withings starts charging new accounts for health data syncing

New users will need a paid plan to keep automatic transfers to other apps after a one-month trial.

Withings is making automatic syncing of health data from its smartwatches and smart scales to third-party apps a paid feature for new accounts, a change that matters for anyone integrating consumer health devices with Apple Health, Google Health, or similar services. Accounts created from October 13th, 2026 will need a Withings Plus subscription to keep that sync turned on after a one-month trial, while existing accounts made on or before October 12th, 2026 keep the feature for free. The subscription is priced at $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year. Withings says the free access follows the account, not the hardware, so current users who buy new Withings devices should retain third-party syncing without paying extra.

Why it matters

The change splits access by account date, not by the device itself. People who already have accounts keep syncing for free, while new accounts will lose automatic transfers unless they pay. That means the same Withings hardware can behave differently depending on when the account was created.
